Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I know from personal experience that there are times when you need to get thoughts, frustrations, feelings of sadness, and anything else that is negatively impacting your life, off your chest. I want to help people who are experiencing challenges overcome them in a healthy way.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who have an idea of how they want their life to be, who are willing to share the obstacles getting in the way of what they want.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with all type of clients! However, if I had to narrow it down, I'm especially excited to work with couples, individuals who experience depression, people who are looking for healthier coping mechanisms, and people who have an overall sense of isolation.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I think a lot of people think that therapy is laying on a couch, while someone in glasses sits across from you and talks while holding a clipboard. It's not like that at all. Therapy is supposed to be a place where a client can be who they are while working to achieve their goals.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Believe it or not, I used to be a client too! And where did I go? Thriveworks! Thriveworks has done so much for me and has changed my life in more ways than I can begin to describe. I feel honored to have the honor to give back by being a therapist at Thriveworks.
What inspires you?
There is nothing more inspiring than seeing a client making positive changes and living a happier life.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session is always very different from every session after. In the first session, it's mostly me getting to know you, getting an idea of what challenges may be present in your life, and seeing what topics and goals we would like to discuss for later sessions.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The most important thing is to build rapport and to show that counseling is a place where you can be listened to and heard without judgement.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
They should know that I believe in them. Life may be challenging now, but in every session we have, we will work towards building a happier future.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I am a stand-up comedian! I am also pretty good at videogames.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I would say it's being a loving boyfriend to my amazing girlfriend.
