Get to know Stephanie

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I chose to become a counselor because I wanted to provide the support to others navigating life's obstacles in a way I was unable to access through childhood. Watching family members struggle with ADHD and Depression I knew early in life I wanted provide a safe space for those who are struggling.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who are seeking to live an authentic version of themselves. Client who are looking for move through their healing process and overcome obstacles. I try told hold a mix of compassion and self accountability for my clients. I take a client centered approach therefore my clients are actively engaged in our sessions and feel they are in the driver seat of their healing journey.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew the therapy and healing process is dynamic. We are all on a path through life which provides twists and turns. The more we can find compassion for ourselves through this journey the softer our road becomes.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to partner with Thriveworks because they support both their clients and clinicians. They are supportive of balance and communication and help clients to take an involved and collaborative approach to their healing journey.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During our first session, We will utilize the time to discuss your 'therapy trigger event'. Typically people have a breaking point or 'trigger event' when they say to themselves "I should find a therapist". I would like to know about this moment and how you got there. From this intake session we will identify thought patterns and obstacles which lead to this point and identify where we can make shifts in understanding for authentic growth.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

During the first session we will create rapport and get to know each other. We will make sure I'm a good fit as your therapist and my approach of Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Somatic awareness is the right match for you in overing coming your life stressors and obstacles.
