About Sheri
Sheri Durricks is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working with adult clients, including individuals, couples, and families. She has over 15 years of experience treating substance abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, domestic violence, and other life challenges.
Sheri graduated from Lincoln University with her Master's degree in Counseling and Human Services. She then went on to pursue her education at Walden University, earning her Doctoral degree in Social Policy and Human Services. Sheri uses a variety of treatment approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness, and positive psychology, to name a few.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a couselor due to having family member struggling with mental health and other challenges. This sparked an interest in this particular field.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with client who are willing and motivated to do the work. If you don't deposit money in the bank, you can't expect a withdrawal. You have to do the work.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with all clients specifically women and men challenges, and transition in life.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
The giving up is not an option. The race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to the one that endures to the end.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Great opportunity to provide services in a non conventional manner via telehealth. Each individual has a unique situations and may not be able to do face to face or in person. Working remotely with a flexible schedule will allow great opportunity to assist those with unique needs.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired when I can assist with changing a life. This is inspiration.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a warm, comforting introduction in a safe welcoming environment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like to understand their goal in order to formulate a treatment plan specific to their needs.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
If you do the work, you will see results. I'm a good listener, non judgmental and empathetic.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy traveling, surrounding my self around good food, friends and family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I simply have faith that I can do whatever, no matter what!
