Mengyuan Wang is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has 2 years of experience interning and working in the mental health field. Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I feel the most fulfilled when bringing positive impacts onto others' life. I believe one's mental health impacts the holistic wellbeing of a person and I want to contribute to increasing individual happiness as well as social awareness to mental health issues.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work the best with clients who are motivated to change their life for the better.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
As a new therapist, I am excited to work with any client as I want to be exposed to and gain experience working with clients with varying presenting problems.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that it takes a lot of courage to seek help and wanting to better one's relationship to oneself. I want them to acknowledge their courage and applaud themselves for seeking therapy.

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I appreciate the support it provides to its clinicians and its dedication in providing clients accessible and quality care.
What inspires you?
My mother inspired me as she was very intentional in bringing positivity into other's lives.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Client can expect to be heard, valued, and be provided a trusting atmosphere. They can also expect me asking them about their objectives in treatment and how they would like to define therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to present my client a safe space to share their personal concerns in as well as a trustworthy relationship where unconditional positive regard is conveyed.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I want my clients to know that this is a nonjudgmental space where their feelings will be seen and heard. I want to make sure that clients know that this is their time and space. I invite them to teach me how to better support them.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy playing wallyball (indoor volleyball) and swimming on my time off.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My creativity, which is expressed in art and cooking.
