Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a therapist to help others find themselves and their purpose in life.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A client can expect the first session to be spent collecting background information, history, and focusing on identifying goals of treatment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In a first session I aim to educate the client on the process of therapy. This includes discussing confidentiality and its limitation, client and counselor expectations, client and counselor responsibilities, and answering the clients questions about the therapeutic process. This is a session for history gathering and building rapport before beginning the work.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
When I am not working I am playing video games, spending time with my husband and son, reading, or looking up new recipes that I never actually end up making.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that "defines" me is that I don't define myself because defining myself leaves no room for growth and improvement as a person, wife, or mother.
