Get to know Jacquelyn

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I appreciate how counseling enables me to support the well-being of the whole person. This is what ultimately led me into the counseling field.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients. Since counseling is a collaborative process, I work best with clients who honestly communicate their thoughts and feelings so we can cultivate skills and customize strategies that best fit their needs.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew how to think, speak, and act toward themselves as they would a friend.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I appreciate being able to devote all of my work time to directly supporting clients.

What inspires you?

Continual growth and learning, both in my life and in the lives of my clients, inspires me.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

My goal in the first session is to listen to what the client is thinking, feeling, and experiencing; to identify strengths, interests, and needs with the client; to learn and understand what the client desires to obtain from our sessions together; to collaborate with the client to create meaningful goals and specific objectives; to answer questions and provide clarification about the treatment process; and to explain and practice at least one coping strategy which can be used to improve well-being. .

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

My goal is for the client to leave the first session feeling hopeful and looking forward to the next session.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Doing activities with my family, hiking, traveling, playing tennis, playing piano, engaging with art, reading, learning new things

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

A lover of learning: I'm continually striving to learn and grow in all aspects of my life.
