About Jacquelyn
Jacquelyn Farasat is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She holds National Counselor Certification and is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has 8 years of experience supporting the emotional, social, and personal growth and well-being of children, adolescents, and adults in both individual and group formats.
Jacquelyn has a Master’s degree in Counseling and a Master’s degree in Education. She strives to develop a caring relationship with the client that is built on trust, respect, and collaboration. Jacquelyn integrates mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing with a strengths-based, person-centered approach to support the client in becoming his/her best self. When working with children and families, she often uses play therapy to foster relational skills, develop emotional awareness and self-regulation skills, and promote positive problem-solving.
Jacquelyn recognizes that each client has a unique set of strengths, desires, and needs. Thus, she continually maintains flexibility and tailors strategies in response to the client’s needs and personal goals. Her goal is to encourage and empower you throughout your journey to becoming.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I appreciate how counseling enables me to support the well-being of the whole person. This is what ultimately led me into the counseling field.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients. Since counseling is a collaborative process, I work best with clients who honestly communicate their thoughts and feelings so we can cultivate skills and customize strategies that best fit their needs.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew how to think, speak, and act toward themselves as they would a friend.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I appreciate being able to devote all of my work time to directly supporting clients.
What inspires you?
Continual growth and learning, both in my life and in the lives of my clients, inspires me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My goal in the first session is to listen to what the client is thinking, feeling, and experiencing; to identify strengths, interests, and needs with the client; to learn and understand what the client desires to obtain from our sessions together; to collaborate with the client to create meaningful goals and specific objectives; to answer questions and provide clarification about the treatment process; and to explain and practice at least one coping strategy which can be used to improve well-being. .
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
My goal is for the client to leave the first session feeling hopeful and looking forward to the next session.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Doing activities with my family, hiking, traveling, playing tennis, playing piano, engaging with art, reading, learning new things
