About Dwight
I am a licensed professional counselor and school psychologist with over 25 years of experience working with children, adults, and families in community, outpatient, and school settings. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma, and I also bring extensive experience supporting clients with autism, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. I believe in every person's capacity for growth, and I tailor my approach to each individual's strengths and needs.
My work is grounded in empathy and active listening. Using evidence-based approaches—including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and client-centered therapy—I work collaboratively with clients to build emotional resilience, strengthen coping skills, and foster lasting change.
Life is full of demands: work, family, relationships, and everything in between. You don't have to navigate it alone. I look forward to working with you—book a session and let's start uncovering your best self together.
"I advocate for all by assisting with learning and emotional strengths and areas of need to foster growth, and the skills needed to help people prosper. "
Get to know Dwight
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I began my journey to become a school psychologist/licensed therapist in order to assist children and adults with learning issues and the related stressors that accompany learning differences.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients that require assistance with planning, organization, and attention to details, and children/adolescents that experience learning differences that impact their academic functioning and interpersonal relationships with adults and peers.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I would like all clients to understand that all of us can benefit from therapeutic assistance to cope with everyday life challenges we all experience, and that this need for support should not be stigmatize.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During the first session, we can talk about your concerns and your expectations for therapy. We can work together to find the best fit.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provide?
I am a parent of a child with special needs. I can relate to how each individual is unique, and we all have a story that needs to be heard and accepted.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Therapy is a collaborative process, and we have to work together to best meet your needs.
