Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I enjoy using my greatest strengths to support others. I find that humor, compassion, and belief in others goes a long way. I'm in the most rewarding profession.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who want to receive feedback and give new techniques a try. Sometimes, stubborn clients are my favorite to help transition to utilizing new strategies, though. The more open and accessible you are able to be, the better you'll do on your journey to wellness. We are all learning as we go in life.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with clients seeking a change. We all want to improve our situations a times, whether that means to seek and find relief, see the world through new eyes and perspective, or take on challenges with new techniques and mindset. I'm here to help aid in that process.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Their worth and how connected we all are. People amaze me daily. Let that light shine!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks does great work to serve clients and supports counselors strongly in doing their jobs effectively.
What inspires you?
Potential, kindness, and connectedness.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I'll encourage you to share your concerns with me so that I can get a good picture of what you're experiencing. We'll start to build some rapport and plan out how you'd like to tackle your obstacles.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to get a good sense of the client's presenting issue, what's bothering them, and how they believe counseling can help them sort their issues.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I've been told I'm calming. I hope so. I also believe strong communication means meeting clients where they are in session. I'll do my best to meet you where you are.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I hike, walk my dog, binge Netflix crime shows, take coursework, spend time with family and friends, and cook. I'm starting to bake more. I also sing.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I'm a good friend.
