Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a therapist when I and the people around me realized that I loved to listen to their stories and if I had an idea to help I had no problem speaking up! More seriously though, I came from a troubled background and in high school I had no idea what to do with my life. I was unable to imagine a future after I graduated--everything that I was interested in seemed impossible. But I had a guidance counselor who took an interest in me without me even asking her, and guided me through the college application process in order for me to attend college. I have never forgotten her wisdom and kindness and I hope to be that kind of person to someone else.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with clients who want to set objectives and meet some goals! I want to hear your dreams for your life and strategize with you on how to make them reality.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Everyone in this world could benefit from therapy and clients who seek it out are making a very wise decision. It's a form of self-care!
What inspires you?
My Christian faith inspires me. It helps me to realize that we are not alone in this world and that with God nothing is impossible!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to be treated with respect and kindness no matter who they are. They can also expect to be heard and their issues taken seriously.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session introductions will be made and then I would really like to hear your story so that we can identify what the goals of treatment will be moving forward and I can get an idea of how best to help you.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That I'm dedicated, trustworthy and committed to providing the best care possible.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I started doing Pilates about 5 years ago and try to practice at least every other day. I'm a vegetarian and I love to cook. I actually thought about going to culinary school but changed my mind after working in a professional kitchen one summer over the pandemic-- It was exhausting and no one ever sat down! I also like to read...mysteries and sci-fi are my favorite genres.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I'm generally joyful and I love spending time with family and friends.
