About Nakeisha
I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 17 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s most challenging moments. I help clients navigate trauma, relationship concerns, communication issues, emotional disconnection, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you understand how your story shapes your wellbeing and relationships.
I earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Southern Nazarene University. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused care, and emotionally focused, relationship-centered approaches to guide our work. Each session is tailored to meet you exactly where you are.
I’m passionate about helping people rebuild connection, strengthen emotional intimacy, and communicate in healthier, more fulfilling ways. My goal is to help you feel supported, empowered, and confident as you move toward meaningful change. I look forward to partnering with you on your healing journey.

"As a clinician with almost 2 decades of experience, I believe in guiding people to the best version of themselves despite their past experiences."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Early on, I wanted to be a part of the movement to decrease divorce rates in Oklahoma. I was fascinated by the PREP curriculum and wanted to administer it to couples. As time and my exposure developed, I learned that I loved helping others realize their "fullness" as a means to help them enjoy their lives and relationships. This has truly sustained me in my career as a mental health and wellness provider.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I can literally work with anyone; whether you are eager and ready to work, or hesitant and searching. My approach meets people where they are and guides them where they would like to go.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Honestly speaking, I enjoy what I do and am most excited about helping others.
What inspires you?
Love, relationships, children, and art. I believe that the more beautiful we can make our lives the more responsibly we will live them and the less likely we will be to attempt to harm another.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I enjoyed hearing how they were focused on making work work for both the client AND the clinician. Many times, in the helping profession, the helpers are overlooked. I enjoyed that this was not the case with Thriveworks.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Mental health and wellness are not a buzz connection. Rather, two vital parts of human life and the keys to enjoying the time we have.
What inspires you?
Love, relationships, children, and art. I believe that the more beautiful we can make our lives the more responsibly we will live them and the less likely we will be to attempt to harm another.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect an ally, confidant, warmth, honesty (without being a jerk), and safety. I like to use this session to give you an opportunity to "interview" me and establish a good connection, as you will be sharing vital and personal information. You should be comfortable doing so. I hope to establish that in that first session.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to gain an understanding of your most pressing concerns and provide you with the information you need to be comfortable sharing to establish your own healing and well-being.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that they will have a safe space to process. They should also know that I will challenge them in ways that will help them grow, using science, pop culture, entertainment, and my own vivid sense of humor. Hard things don't have to feel impossible.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to sketch, paint, binge watch shows, exercise (believe it or not), and travel.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Humans should be allowed to human. It's the only way the figure out the best way to do it.
