About Melissa
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 3 years of experience supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their inner strength. My approach combines evidence-based therapy with mindfulness and compassion to help clients reconnect with mind and body. I believe healing begins when we feel safe enough to explore our thoughts and emotions with openness, curiosity, and self-acceptance, allowing space for growth and meaningful transformation.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. In my work, I integrate mindfulness, somatic awareness, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to help clients build insight, emotional balance, and self-compassion. My goal is to offer a calm, grounded, and nonjudgmental space for self-discovery and healing.
In our sessions, I’ll hold space for your strength and your struggle. Together, we’ll explore patterns that shape your life and uncover new pathways for growth. I value curiosity, empathy, and collaboration in the therapeutic process because true healing happens through connection, understanding, and compassionate presence.

"As a therapist, I believe it is important to create space for safety and connection where we can explore the intersections of mind, body, and emotion with curiosity, self-trust, healing, and intentionality."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Thankfully, I have lived a full life and have a range of lived experience that I draw from as a therapist. My motto is "life is messy" and when we let go of what is supposed to happen and embrace what is happening, we find a new place inside of ourself that can guide us differently. As a person who has received the enormous benefits of a skilled clinician, I am grateful to pass on the life changing experience I received to the clients I have the opportunity to work with.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with open-minded clients who are motivated. Additionally, I work well with couples, those recovering from religious trauma, and folks identifying as LGBTQ+.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
The challenges that I have faced are invaluable in my role as a therapist, as it helps me know how to stay present in difficult situations with an open heart. Doing hard things is hard but doing them alone is excruciating. A skilled therapist can create a safe space to be accepted completely and wholly resulting in relational safety and belonging that is often tough to create in today's world.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the beginning, clients can expect care full of compassionate curiosity and an open-mind. While we build the therapeutic relationship, we will begin to explore desired outcomes and how we will know if we are successful in the process.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Going back to graduate school in my mid-forties as a mother of four and business owner, I had a lot of life behind me that has humbled me and taught me that judgement of myself and others is detrimental to our growth. Although the path has been windy, I would not change what has happened because life has been my biggest teacher. My professional history includes being a labor doula for couples for over 15 years and teaching yoga to a variety of populations for over 20 years.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I use a client-centered approach building trust and allowing the client to ultimately guide the process. Clients will have opportunities to share goals and desires throughout the process while developing healthier mental habits and establishing foundational changes to improve the quality of life.
