Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose to become a counselor because I am passionate about helping others navigate the ups and downs of life and have always lived by the phrase "try and leave this world a little better than you found it."
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are wanting to grow and build their life worth living through therapy.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are motivated to be in therapy even if the topics we are discussing can be difficult to talk about.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that you don’t have to have it all figured out to seek help—sometimes, just showing up is the bravest thing you can do.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks for the flexibility in schedule and feeling very aligned with Thriveworks' mission to make the community a better place.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my clients every day. Whether it is their bravery in showing up to the session on a hard day, their commitment to digging deep even when it is uncomfortable, or their victories both big and small on something we have been discussing, my clients inspire me to continue doing this work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In your first session, there will be a few focuses. We would first discuss what therapy will look like, including your rights, responsibilities, and what you can expect from me as your therapist. From there, we will get to know one another and I will ask some questions about your background and what specifically is bringing you into therapy. There will be no pressure—I’ll meet you where you are, and focus on making sure you feel comfortable and informed as we begin our time together.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In our first session, I would like to get to know more about what has brought you into this moment so that I can see how I can best support you and your needs moving forward, as well as making sure that you are comfortable and informed about what therapy will look like.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that I will not push beyond what they are comfortable with and am always open to taking a pause when needed.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of the office, you can usually find me spending time with my dogs, exploring new places with friends or family, reading, or finding new recipes to try out!
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I’m a collector of stories—whether from books, people, or my own experiences, I’m fascinated by the way stories shape who we are!
