Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a therapist as I come from a background of Social Service in/around my family.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I am experienced working with adults from young adulthood to elderly stages with varying mental health and addiction struggles.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who have difficulty developing their sense of autonomy and self-determination.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that growth is a slow process that shows growth with patience in themselves and in their own unique process.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to further develop my skills as a clinician and add another layer of support to a growing population of clients seeking needed help.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the watching a client's development into a stronger version of themselves.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect an emphasis on compassion and the importance of being gracious to one's self no matter how difficult their current struggle may be.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want them to leave their session feeling that they have a chance to feel heard without fear of judgement or misunderstanding.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I want clients to know that I will always meet them wherever they are in life first before taking a new path on their journey.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to spend time with my family as a devoted husband and caretaker.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Empathic.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I worked with a Navy veteran who developed insight into his long-time alcohol addiction that impacted his marriage and relationship with his daughter in order to find grace, patience, and purpose in order to create stronger bonds with his daughter and support system in his life. My veteran client developed a stronger sense of self-determination by gaining 5 years of sobriety where his thoughts were more clear, while his sense of accountability strengthened.
