Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Throughout my life, I have always been passionate about helping others. To me, there is no better feeling than to support others in achieving their successes. When it came time to choose a career path, I wanted to find a job that allows me to utilize this strength and interact with others in a meaningful way. I never imagined I could find as much joy as I do in a career as a counselor. Everyday, I have the opportunity to help others and watch them grow into their best selves. Although I became a counselor to help others grow, this job has had more impact on my growth than I ever thought possible. I feel extremely fortunate to work in this field, and I am looking forward to continue to help others as a counselor at Thriveworks.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to allowing change in their lives. During our time together, a client may be asked to think differently about a situation or try something that they have never done before. While this may be scary, it can help contribute to their growth. While I will be there to guide clients each step of the way, I know my approach will be more effective when the client can contribute to their own growth.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first session, clients can expect to enter a warm and safe environment. We will start to establish a therapeutic relationship by getting to know each other. Clients are invited to ask questions or voice any concerns they may have about the counseling process. When the client feels comfortable, we will begin to collaborate on their treatment plan and establish goals. The first session will set the foundation for our work together in the client's healing journey.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of my job, I like to spend time with family and friends. I love relaxing on the beach in the summer and watching movie marathons in the winter. I enjoy exercising at the gym and going for walks while listening to my favorite podcasts.
