About Valencia
Valencia Davis is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over 19 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field. She enjoys helping teens, young adults, and adults address their challenges within their personal lives as transitions happen. Valencia specializes in anxiety, ADHD, and major life transitions, building life skills to manage life. Valencia attended and completed her Master's in Professional Counseling at Webster University.
As a spouse and daughter of veterans, Valencia understands the difficulties of change and transitions. Her professional experience with the prison system and community health population has made her more compassionate. She utilizes multiple treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.
Today, you are one step closer to a new you. As a counselor, Valencia’s goal is to guide you in that process of change. She is here to empower you on this journey called life. She will strive to be present with you while remaining compassionate and offering you guidance.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I did not decide to become a counselor, in all honesty it chose me. In elementary and throughout school, my goal was to be in the helping profession within the nursing field. However, while in my undergraduate career, I realize the importance of counseling when assisting other during their time in need and providing them with positive neutral support.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with young adults and adults who are transitioning into new phases of life. Life transitions can be difficult and bring on new adventures with the new of improved life skills.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm always excited to challenge myself with new clients that require me to grow professionally. However, I am most excited to work with clients who are learning to step out on faith and try new goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all client would knew that life is not linear. We will all need support to grow into the person that we are destined to become.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice at Thriveworks for the team support.
What inspires you?
My mother continues to inspires me. She left me with a laundry list of memories which supports my outlook on life. I only want to be half as strong as she!
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A client can expect to leave relax and a realization that this is a team approach. During the first session I will explain the process and allow for questions to build a rapport and hopeful a slight smile of relief.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During the first session I would like to gather information to assess and explore the client's needs and goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a session with me, you will quickly learn I enjoy people. I want everyone to become comfortable and realize we are now a team.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
When I am off I enjoy time at the beach and with my family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me is my drive to enjoy all moments in life.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I had a young adult who was entering into her sophomore year of college. She was having a had time maintaining friendships and a relationship. She was able to accept and identify how her inability to maintain relationship and a social life was due to her relationship with her mother. She active increased her ability to recognize her strengths and weakness, eventually was able to gain a positive female friendship with her roommate and "talk" to this guy,
