I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) with over 15 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, families, and military/vets in need of mental health services. I am fully licensed in North Carolina.

My favorite clinical modality is solution-focused therapy (SFT). During your first session, we'll discuss what brought you to therapy and best ways to help you progress. SFT is a short-term, evidence-based approach focused on current circumstances and future hopes. The goal is to find solutions that put your mind at ease in ways you never dreamed possible.

You didn't choose this struggle, but you don't have to face it alone. With over 11 years as a counselor and a background spanning school counseling to rehabilitation, I help clients find strength and clarity in difficult moments. As a single mom and cancer survivor, I know how hard healing can be, and I'd be honored to help. Reach out when you're ready.

"As one who has experienced personal trauma, loss and chronic illness, I have an authentic understanding of how we are impacted by painful life circumstances and how building new life skills can improve us once again."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a counselor because I enjoy helping others and because of my own personal experiences to include divorce, single parenthood, chronic illness, grief and loss.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Adults; Seniors.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

It is never too late to seek help. Your path is not etched in stone. You can change it but you must want to change it and be willing to reach out.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

The 1st session will be completing the intake process, which may take the entire 53 minutes. I will not delve into your issues until the 2nd or 3rd session at which time we will discuss what brought you to therapy to decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. SFT is a short-term evidenced based approach that focuses upon current circumstances and future hopes. The goal is to find solutions that will put your mind at ease in ways you never dreamed possible.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Cancer Diagnosis

Divorce

Raised two daughters on my own

Lost my sister at the age of 28 as the result of an automobile accident

Lost my mother at the age of 40

Took care of my father for 8 1/2 years in my home before his passing in 2009

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

We will discuss what brought you to therapy to decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. SFT is a short-term evidenced based approach that focuses upon current circumstances and future hopes. The goal is to find solutions that will put your mind at ease in ways you never dreamed possible.
