Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I was born and raised as the eldest of 6 children in a third world country (Guyana, South America) which has no social welfare system. From an early age, I found myself providing guidance, direction, example and assistance to my 5 siblings, my friends, my extended family and eventually people in my community who needed assistance with resources, problem solving, someone to listen and help with the challenges of daily living. The most rewarding part of being a counselor is knowing that I had a part in making a difference in the life of another person. Giving them hope when they felt hopeless, inspiring and empowering them to be all that they are capable of being, so that they can live harmoniously and help someone else.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Over the past few years, I have found myself working best with women. I believe from a spiritual perspective that I have a Women's Ministry. I would like to be an inspirational mantle for therapy and wellness for all women.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I work best with women in pain from past and current traumas (physical, emotional and sexual abuse), depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, homelessness, relationship issues and major life transitions.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing that I wish all clients knew is that "pain maybe inevitably but suffering is optional". Some experiences in life are painful. There's no getting away from that. Pain happens to everyone. No one escapes difficulties. However, the ability to accept pain as part of life but deny its control over your life and the ability to ask for help, shows an optimistic attitude and trust in the plan, purpose, control and love of your higher power.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In their first session clients can expect that we will engage in building rapport and a relationship characterized by agreement, mutual understanding and empathy that will make communication easy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In would like to accomplish building rapport by them telling me about themselves which will result in the development of a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment; by them telling me about what brought them to counseling and what they would like to achieve from counseling which will result in the development of a treatment plan with SMART goals directed at their desired outcomes.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That I am a woman who lives with integrity, practice honesty and work collaboratively with clients in finding creative ways to meet their unique needs and issues.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I believe that self-care is very important so I enjoy listening to music, dancing, laughing, reading, communicating with my children, parents, siblings and friends and going on vacations.
