"Hi, my name is Kisha and I am proud of you for starting your counseling journey. As a woman of color and a proud LGBTQI+ ally, I recognize how hard it can be to relate to some medical professionals. One of my reasons for joining the mental health profession is to be a reflection and a representation of underrepresented cultures. I look forward to working with you."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor to bring about the change I wanted to see in the mental health field.
What types of clients do you work with best?
All clients are willing to try something new.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
All clients bring something new to therapy. The clients that excite me the most are the disbelievers in therapy. When ideas and views change, you can see the light return to their eyes. Those moments make my day and make me glad I work in this field.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Like a gym membership, it doesn't work if you don't go.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The flexibility and culture they are building make this a desirable workplace.
What inspires you?
Resilient people.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A genuine person that wants to see you succeed.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Getting to know each other better. Hopefully, the confidence that we will work well together.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
That I will always tell you truth. Trust goes both ways.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like going to the beach, watching action movies, audiobooks, and eating good food with good people.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I love to laugh. My clients all say they laugh more with me than they have most of the week.
