About Nabeel
Nabeel Saad is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. He is passionate, motivated, highly empathetic, and dedicated to helping teens and adults with a wide variety of life challenges. This includes supporting those dealing with depression, isolation and loneliness, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, trauma, adjustment disorders, and relationship issues.
Nabeel completed his Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) at Stony Brook University. Since graduating, he has spent years dedicated to helping individuals struggling with a wide variety of mental health issues. His motivation in this field stems from his desire to help cultivate positive changes for those struggling with life challenges, as well as from personal experiences of having friends and family members in recovery. Nabeel utilizes a holistic approach to treatment that includes balancing traditional cognitive behavioral (CBT) approaches that focus on changing problematic thoughts and behaviors, with "third wave" and "positive psychology" techniques that emphasize an individual's spiritual and emotional health, by focusing on happiness, mindfulness, meaning, and purpose.
Our mental health is an often overlooked part of our lives that is essential to our happiness and well-being. It allows us to prosper and achieve the goals and dreams we set for ourselves. Nabeel is dedicated to helping you navigate through the challenges and barriers that you might be struggling with. If you are motivated and willing to take the necessary steps to make positive changes for yourself and improve your mental health and wellness, schedule an appointment with him today.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Throughout my life, I have seen the importance of mental health and wellness present itself to me in many forms and fashions. These include personal life experiences, along with those of close family members and friends. What I have learned is that we all struggle at times, and that we all can benefit from the help, support, and empathy of others. This is why I am motivated to devoting my career to helping provide those I work with the tools to improve their mental health and increase their overall happiness and wellness.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who have a true desire for personal change and growth. I believe in human potential and base my practice on the principle that everybody deserves the opportunity for true happiness and wellness. If a client is motivated and willing to treat themself with compassion and care, then I am more than happy to help provide them the tools and support to make this happen.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. I would like to grow with my clients as they grow with me. The clients who I am most motivated to help are those who might feel alone or unheard, or who just want someone to listen to them. Helping in this way motivates me each day, as does working to elicit true change and growth for all those I work with.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they are not alone. That there are people out there who want to listen and to help. And that the barriers that we face are ones that we can overcome and change. Too often, we feel unheard and we give up hope. This is where therapy and counseling can be crucial. I want my clients to regain this hope and learn new ways to accomplish what they might not have thought was possible.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
What drew me most to Thriveworks is that it is clinician-run and that it was founded by clinicians. This unique feature leads to an understanding of the challenges faced by therapists, both in their work with clients and in their own personal experiences. As a result, I feel that I am in a place where I will be heard and listened to, just as I will be dedicated to listening to and hearing my clients.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the human potential for change and growth. In my life, I have seen incredible resilience from amazing people. This has influenced my decision to devote my career to helping others achieve meaningful change. I believe that, even we can't see it for ourselves, we are stronger than we think, and that our strength and courage will shine through if we put in the work.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
That I will listen and hear them from the moment they begin working with me. That I will ask questions, stimulate dialogue, and work to understand what makes them unique, why they chose to seek help, and how therapy can help them reach their goals and improve their quality of life.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In our first session, my goal is to gradually develop a rapport with who I am working with. I would like to establish a connection that will last throughout our time together. This will include an open discussion of why they are seeking help, their personal goals for treatment, and other factors that will help me understand how my skill set can help them in reaching those goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that I will listen to them with empathy and an open mind, and that I will utilize my professional training and skill set to help them achieve their goals and overcome their barriers to change. They should also know that we will move at their pace, and that it is okay to be uncomfortable or unsure when beginning with a new therapist. My hope is to foster a therapeutic relationship by developing trust and a safe space for self-expression.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I consider myself a foodie. I love trying new restaurants and going to food events. My favorite food (at least right now) is Thai, and I love sushi as well. I am also a huge sports fan who enjoys going to games and debating about who the best teams and players are. And I am an avid music listener who enjoys concerts and listening to music that fits my moods.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that I feel defines me is my love and care for those closest to me. I feel blessed to have people (and a puppy) in my life who bring me joy and motivate me each day to be my best.
