About Ida
Ida Ham is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Ida is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and couples address their unique challenges and create life balances with improved coping skills for a fulfilling life. She specializes in depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, problem solving, relationship issues, and coping skills.
Ida completed her Master of Arts (MA) in Agency Counseling at North Carolina Central University. She has a family and lived experiences balancing the unique developments within family life. Ida has continued her skill building and has completed the nationally approved Stephen Ministry training for faith-based counseling and support. Ida’s training and work experiences have allowed her the opportunity to utilize varied therapies such as person-centered, cognitive, behavioral, acceptance, commitment, motivational based, strengths based, decision making, problem solving, and solution focused.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I am a counselor because I have a heart for helping and my desire is to help clients see their best and become their best.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with the person who has "the glass is half full" thought and belief.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
It is okay to have someone to talk to about varied life situations.

I wake up in the morning with a new opportunity.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The first session will be helpful in gathering information: self-report assessments may be completed with varied questions. The development of short and long term goals will help foster the therapeutic relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should expect that I will listen to all that is shared and ask the necessary questions to support the helping process.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
My personal time includes time connecting to nature - walks, gardening and spiritual meditation.
