Get to know Danielle

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I knew I always wanted to help people from the time I was a child, then after taking a class on mental illnesses in my undergraduate studies, I decided advocating for those who are in pain and reaching out was my calling. During the last five years that has been affirmed. I hope you will take the time to reach out to me when you are ready.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I really enjoy working with adults, but have experience working with children as young as four years old to older adults. I work best with clients who are ready to believe in themselves and I hope those clients know they are not alone.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I get excited when there is a challenge. Maybe a client does not know what they want out of counseling, but when they find it and see their self-worth, it makes my passion of helping others rewarding.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Going to a stranger and telling them your deepest thoughts is scary, but takes great courage. So, if you are considering finding a counselor to talk to then you have strength. You are capable of doing anything in the world once you set your mind to it.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks offers an inviting environment, supportive staff, and a chance to work on becoming the best version of myself as a therapist.

What inspires you?

My son, the hope for others, and knowing listening to someone if even it is only for a few minutes can spark a positive change.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

We will have introductions, complete the initial intake, establish goals, and time permitting incorporate a fun activity.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

Building rapport takes time and I cannot learn everything about you in an hour. If you are willing to be open, then I want to set some goals, hear what your love to do, and make sure the environment is safe.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

Boundaries are important in the therapeutic process and challenges might arise, but you have someone cheering you on every step of the way.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love spending time with my family, getting outdoors, or reading a book.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I want to see the good in others, so focusing on a silver lining can bring compassion and humbles me.
