About Claire
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate (LCMHCA) and registered play therapist with 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults through a wide range of emotional and life challenges. Play therapy is a central focus of my work, and I specialize in helping children and families navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relational concerns in developmentally appropriate, play-based ways. I also enjoy working with women, parents, and individuals seeking support during major life transitions.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My clinical approach is grounded in play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy. I partner with clients and families to explore experiences, build insight, and strengthen skills that support emotional regulation, balance, and lasting change.
My goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. I believe growth happens through connection, curiosity, and play. Whether you are beginning your journey or returning to it, you do not have to face it alone.

"As one who realizes help isn't a one-size-fits-all, I see counseling as a chance to sit with someone and gently explore their thoughts and beliefs, helping them understand how these inner stories shape the way they feel, live, and move through the world."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I went into counseling field wanting to help people navigate life. I was working with people who were dealing with some really tough situations. Counseling felt like a natural next step in my career to expand my skills with helping people, especially when life hands you some pretty unexpected experiences.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy working with clients who are willing to show up. Some days therapy just flows and some days it doesn't. The important part is showing up and being willing to find change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that therapy can benefit anyone! You don't have to feel like there is something wrong with you or that you are flawed. Life is not scripted. There is beauty in the unexpected and learning how to cope and heal is part of being human.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first goal of starting therapy is to get to know each other and make sure we are a good fit to work together. I understand that change takes vulnerability-- and vulnerability takes trust. Getting to know you, your goals, and building the therapeutic relationship will be our first step in working together.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
You are your own expert. I believe my role is not to tell you what to do but to help be a facilitator for the change you want to bring about in life and help equip you with the tools to make that possible. My goal is to empower each person to understand their story, build resilience, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
There is no one size fits all approach to counseling. Each person who sits with me has their own story, heartache, struggles, and victories. It is my job to meet you where you are and not vice versa.
