About James
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) with 18 years of experience supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, family concerns, and major life stressors. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and life stages, creating a supportive, collaborative space where people feel respected, understood, and empowered to pursue the life they want.
I earned my master’s degree in mental health counseling from Argosy University. My clinical approach is flexible and individualized, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused care, client-centered therapy, and solution-focused techniques to ensure treatment aligns with each person’s unique needs and goals.
Whether you are new to therapy or returning to address a current life challenge, I tailor each session to your personal journey. I focus on helping you develop effective coping strategies, gain insight, and move forward with confidence. It is never too late to invest in yourself and your well-being.

"I find that we often waste time and energy thinking about the coulda's, the woulda's, and the shoulda's, rather than investing in ourselves today."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have had quite a few family members that were in active military and had experience some trauma related symptoms. Being able to better understand the traumas that people have experienced and then finding ways to help them cope with life after trauma, has always held a special place for me, since those early experiences.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I have worked with a range of people, from as young as five, all the way to ninety-eight. The most successful clients have been the ones that are ready and wanting change in there life. It does not mean they always have to have direction, but the willingness and the want for change is a great starting point.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Everyone's journey is different and it is the willingness of the individual that determines how far they can go.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The first session is getting to know you, as well as you getting to know me and my approach. There will be questions to get to know you as an individual, understanding what you are wanting out of therapy, and working even in that first session to identify strategies that you can use right away, following the session.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Many people worry about a therapist judging them with what they share. My personal and professional experience is that my job is to listen and hear you. Judgement has no place in therapy, as it takes away from the key components of listening and therefore would diminish the ability of a therapist to be objective for the changes that you want to see.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
The most important part of therapy is to understand what changes you want to see in your life. With this in mind, not only do therapy have to be unique for each individual, but each session has to be tailored to the patient at that time. Goals change, life happens, and the session has to progress to allow the most success for the client.
