About Sallandra
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with 8 years of experience working in community mental health settings as well as military treatment facilities with a focus on anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, life transitions, challenging family dynamics, stress management, and marital issues. I believe you are the subject matter expert in your life and the best narrator of your story. Recognizing this, I invite you to share the experiences that have shaped who you are—uplifting and difficult experiences—and to challenge and rewrite any internalized false narratives you may have allowed others to create for you.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Widener University. I tailor treatment to individual client needs and use approaches including person-centered therapy, culturally sensitive therapy, psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing.
Whether this is your first therapeutic journey or a new chapter in your healing, I am grateful you have chosen to allow me to guide you. As the saying goes, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”; therefore, I encourage you to bring your whole self into the therapeutic space—including those parts you may have hidden or silenced.

"As someone who believes therapy is not one size fits all, I focus on an eclectic approach, using principles and skills taken from different therapeutic modalities to help achieve the best healing outcomes."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have long been fascinated by people's stories and how they came to be who they are. I decided to become a therapist because of my desire to allow people to tell their stories without judgement, to be able to feel seen and heard, and to be in a space where they can feel like healing is possible.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are ready to do the work that is required in therapy. Those who are willing to best honest with themselves about what has brought them to therapy and willing to confront what may be, at times, ugly truths. Additionally, I work best with those who are willing to understand and accept that therapy is going to have some mountain and valley moments. Every session is not going to be great but, we are a collaborative team working toward the same goal--your healing!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish clients knew and understood that where they are in their therapy, mental health, and/or healing journey is a marathon not a sprint.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In their first session, clients can expect things to be asked questions regarding their hx with therapy, expectations of current therapy and therapist, and expectations of themselves throughout the process. Additionally, they should expect the opportunity to ask questions to ensure a good fit for their needs. The early stages of therapy will be used as continued rapport building and gaining more knowledge of the client to ensure the most effective way forward to ensure the best healing outcome.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My life experience as a woman, wife, mom, and military veteran inform my practice. This experience has allowed me the fortunate opportunity to engage with, live amongst, and respect others without judgement while also increasing my own self-awareness.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to meet each client's needs by using a person-centered approach and allowing client's to guide sessions--meeting them where they are and never pushing them beyond where they are ready to go in their journey.
