Darlita completed her Bachelor of Arts ( BA) in Psychology at Michigan State University and her Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling at Oakland University. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Darlita utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solutions focused therapy to provide the most comprehensive services in a concise, yet warm, empathetic, and supportive environment.

Get to know Darlita
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor to help those individuals who are dealing with various issues, stressors and/or mental illnesses that may not be able to see the potential that they have in themselves to overcome those issues.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work well with youth (pre-teen), teenagers, young adults as well as older adults. I have worked with various cultures/ethnicities in both rural and urban areas within Michigan and Georgia.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Everyone!
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That everyone has the potential to be great and that greatness is not defined by society but by the client themselves.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
During the COVID pandemic I lost my job. Thriveworks offered me the flexibility to create my own schedule, work from home while also providing a physical office to work from as well.
What inspires you?
My son.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
They can expect to be asked a lot of questions. I am honest and sincere but direct and to the point.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to develop rapport by asking questions, actively listening and being empathetic.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to binge watch Netflix movies.
