Get to know Carmella

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I knew fairly early in my adolescent years that I wanted to pursue a career in counseling. I was always the person that people turned to for help or support.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Adolescents and young adults.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with all of my clients.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

That change can be hard and it is okay if you don’t get things perfect the first time.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I believe that it is a good fit for me. The company values their employees as well as their clients.

What inspires you?

Knowing that everyday creates a second chance.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During the first session with me clients can expect some general information gathering. Discussion about what their expectations are regarding counseling and goals that the client has in mind.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I would like to listen and gain an understanding of what the client would like to work on during counseling.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I will be supportive but also willing to challenge behaviors that negate success.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy reading a good book or taking a nice drive.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I appreciate the little things in life, watching the sunrise, spending time with family and friends.
