About Provider

About Aileen

Aileen Vazquez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 6 years of experience in the mental health and substance use field. Aileen is passionate about helping others explore their goals, work towards a better version of themselves, and lead more fulfilling lives. She is particularly interested in the areas of anxiety, trauma, and the experience of pregnancy and postpartum-related issues.

Aileen completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. Aileen identifies as a Mexican-American woman and is both a therapist and a mother and therefore, understands how challenging and complex finding a balance and exploring identity can be. Due to personal experiences and previous experience working with adults with co-occurring disorders, Aileen is able to understand the complexities of life and how one issue can affect another. Aileen is particularly fond of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy (PCT), among other techniques.

It can be hard to reach out for help, but in doing so we are often able to open doors and accomplish things that may not have been possible without assistance. Aileen would be honored to be a part of your journey toward health and happiness. If you are seeking to work towards your goals and work together as a team, schedule an appointment with Aileen today.

My current therapist has been amazing, I feel heard and understood. She has made my process with therapy so easy. I am super glad and grateful that I made the switch to her.

Get to know Aileen

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I knew that I wanted a career where I would be able to connect with, relate to, and support others. I wanted to meet people where they are at and this brought me to the mental health and addiction field. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues, I know that it can be hard to ask for help.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients that are self-motivated, are ready to make some changes, and are goal-driven. I like it when clients are willing to learn and curious about different things that we can do together. I enjoy working with parents both during their pregnancy, postpartum, or in their parenting journey.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with clients that put a genuine interest and effort into their therapy journey.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

That we are human and that sometimes it isn't easy and we all struggle. I also wish all clients knew that being vulnerable is brave and necessary for our personal growth and wellbeing.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I decided to practice at Thriveworks because I felt that it would be a good fit so that clients that are a good match for me would be able to find me easily. I felt that Thriveworks also offered several important benefits to their employees.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by people being honest and vulnerable. I think being open and sharing with your whole heart is really inspirational. I am inspired by creativity and by people being genuine.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

At the first session we will introduce ourselves, discuss therapy expectations, confidentiality, and complete intake paperwork. We will discuss the structure of therapy, how often we will meet, and schedule upcoming therapy sessions.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I would like that person to feel safe, values, and free to use their voice. I would like them to know that our time together is important and to feel motivated to continue to engage in therapy in order to meet their goals.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I use a team-based approach to therapy where we will work together towards our goals and what you chose to do outside of therapy sessions is really important for your progress.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I like to exercise and am working towards a healthier lifestyle. I really like dogs and I have two of them. I enjoy music, singing, and journaling. I love spending time in nature and outdoors is where I find peace.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My values. I value health, peace, and love. I also value family.
