About Jillian

Hi, I'm Jillian Block, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. I work with teens (16+) and adults navigating bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or disconnected from the life they want. Together, we focus on building insight, developing healthy coping skills, strengthening resilience, and creating meaningful, lasting change that aligns with your goals and values.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I integrate CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy to help you better understand yourself, manage difficult emotions, improve relationships, and build practical skills that support lasting growth.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don't have to do it alone. You deserve a space where you feel heard, accepted, and supported. If you're ready to invest in yourself and create meaningful change, I'd be honored to be part of your journey.

"I believe you don't have to have it all figured out before starting therapy—you just need a space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and know someone is genuinely in your corner."

Get to know Jillian

What types of clients do you work best with?

Do you ever wonder why you feel caught in a spiral of negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors? Are you struggling with any combination of depressive, bipolar, anxiety, or substance abuse issues? If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, or caught in cycles that no longer serve you, you don’t have to face it alone.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

Calling a therapist may feel intimidating, but therapy doesn’t have to be painful. Every breath is a chance to start again.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, my priority is getting to know you and creating a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll also ask questions about your history and current concerns so I can better understand your unique experiences. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. In the early stages of therapy, we'll work collaboratively to identify your goals, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies to help you navigate life's challenges. The therapeutic process begins with building rapport to empower you and boost motivation while exploring your experiences, strengths, triggers, coping skills, and barriers. Jillian helps clients become aware of—and challenge—unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors to improve mood and manage life’s challenges. My approach incorporates humor where appropriate and is supportive, nonjudgmental, and tailored to your individual needs, combining evidencebased techniques with genuine connection so you can gain insight, build confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe there is no one-sizefits-all approach to therapy because every person brings their own experiences, strengths, and goals. I take the time to get to know you as an individual and tailor our work together to what feels most helpful and meaningful for you. I draw from evidencebased approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness, and personcentered therapy, adapting these techniques based on your unique needs, preferences, and stage of change. As therapy progresses, we regularly check in about what's working, adjust our approach as needed, and celebrate your growth along the way.
