About Fredina
I am a licensed graduate professional counselor (LGPC) with 17 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life transitions, stress, emotional challenges, and identity concerns. I work with clients seeking clarity, confidence, and practical tools to navigate daily demands, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal and grow.
I earned my doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from Capella University. My approach integrates empathy, cultural humility, and strength-based, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed practices to help clients build coping skills, improve relationships, and deepen their sense of emotional balance and resilience.
You deserve a space where your story is honored, and your healing is supported. I am here to walk with you as you gain clarity, strengthen your well-being, and develop tools that help you thrive. When you feel ready to begin, I would be honored to help you take the next step toward meaningful change and a more grounded, connected life.

"Drawing from my clinical experience and my research with diverse families and caregivers, I approach therapy with empathy, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to helping you navigate stress, identity, and the everyday demands of life."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I deeply believe in mental health maintenance, self-care, and the power of early support to transform lives. As a former school counselor, I advocated for expanding school-based mental health services—especially for children with disabilities and diverse backgrounds. Pursuing clinical counseling allowed me to serve a broader population and continue supporting families by helping parents navigate IEP/504 processes, understand their child’s behavioral and mental health needs, and connect with meaningful community, state, and behavioral health resources.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with children, adolescents, parents, and caregivers who are navigating stress, emotional or behavioral challenges, school-related concerns, or the complexities of raising a child with diverse learning or mental health needs. I also enjoy supporting adults facing identity stress, life transitions, or the desire to strengthen family relationships and daily functioning. My practice is grounded in cultural humility, and I especially welcome families from diverse backgrounds seeking a supportive, collaborative space.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish clients knew that healing is not about perfection—it’s about progress, compassion for yourself, and learning new ways to approach life’s challenges. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out. Small steps, honest moments, and showing up as you are can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming environment where we focus on getting to know you—your story, your strengths, and what brought you to therapy. Early in our work together, we’ll create clear goals and explore the patterns or barriers that may be impacting your well-being. You can expect collaboration, gentle structure, and a space where your voice and lived experiences guide the direction of our sessions.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My work is shaped by nearly two decades in education, counseling, and community advocacy, as well as my research focused on diverse families and caregivers. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, cultural responsiveness, and seeing the whole person—not just the challenges they bring to therapy. I value dignity, respect, and empowerment, and these guide every interaction I have with clients.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by meeting clients exactly where they are and honoring the strengths and cultural identities they bring into the room. Together, we identify what feels most important to you—whether it's emotional regulation, parent-child communication, stress management, or navigating school systems—and I adapt my approach using evidence-informed strategies that match your goals and communication style. My goal is to ensure therapy feels supportive, relevant, and truly personalized to your life.
