About Shauna
I’m Shauna Rowland, LMHC, and I’m passionate about helping people feel grounded, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s ups and downs. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can show up exactly as you are — stressed, overwhelmed, curious, hopeful, or anywhere in between.
I’ve had the privilege of working with clients of all ages in college counseling, community mental health, and partial hospitalization settings. Across these experiences, one thing has stayed the same: people heal best when they feel genuinely seen.
My approach combines talk therapy, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies to help you manage stress, understand your patterns, and build resilience. I’m client-centered and an active listener who moves at your pace where you can explore your experiences without judgment.
I am dedicated to discovering what works best for each of my clients. I am passionate about promoting self-care and finding strategies to help you stay motivated. I believe that every person deserves to feel validated, supported, and understood, and I hope to create a calm and inviting environment in each session.

"I’ve always been drawn to hearing people’s stories and learning about their perspectives. As a therapist, I focus on creating a calm and welcoming space where you can gain insight and feel validated."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have always been drawn to the field of psychology, specifically counseling, because of my desire to communicate with people. I love hearing people's stories, supporting them in overcoming challenges, and celebrating positive experiences.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work well with clients who are motivated to make changes. While engaging in therapy can be intimidating, it is helpful when clients are open to the process and see its value, understanding that change does not happen overnight. It is great to have a collaborative team between the counselor and the client.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I want all clients to know the importance of feeling heard and validated; what they are feeling matters. Therapy should always be a safe space to express and process emotions freely; mental health is just as important as physical health. Clients should always leave the session feeling better than when they walked in.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first few sessions, my focus will be on building rapport and getting to know you. Together, we will identify goals that feel meaningful and align with your needs. I will listen to understand, not to find a short-term solution.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
As a therapist, I value honesty, compassion, and reflection. I believe that every person deserves a space to identify their emotions and process what they are feeling without fear of shame or judgment. As a provider I have also seen so much progress in clients when they have the opportunity to receive positive feedback and encouragement, to be reminded that they are not alone.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Each therapy session should be tailored to what will benefit the client most through open conversation and offering observations and feedback. Session topics should be focused on what the client would like to address and process.
