Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I wanted to help people understand their needs and feel supported while taking steps to make changes. It is incredibly rewarding being apart of someone's journey of believing in themselves and realizing what they are capable of.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open and curious about personal growth and interested in understanding change.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with adults 18+ with any and all backgrounds, who are interested in self reflection and growth.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish that all clients knew would be that change is possible and that the hard work is worth it.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because of the supportive environment and the effort I know that other clinicians who work there put towards their clients.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my family and seeing progress in clients.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In our first session, clients can expect for history gathering and rapport building to be the focus. Beginning therapy is a big step and it's important for the client to feel comfortable and for a foundation of trust and understanding to be set.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In a first session with the client the objective is to review a general history, work together to develop treatment goals and for the client to feel empowered that change is possible.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I thoroughly enjoy being a therapist and my focus is to meet the client where they are and help them achieve their goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
On my time off I enjoy trying new recipes, road trips with my family and enjoying live music.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am always up for an adventure and believe that any view of water is worth traveling for.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I was working with a mother of two who was in an emotionally abusive relationship and struggling to determine her next steps. During our sessions we were able to work through her fears of making a change, empower her to feel that her needs are valid and for her to decide that she no longer wanted to compromise her safety or emotional well being. She eventually made the challenging decision of leaving that relationship and has continued to work towards creating a life in which she is the main character and is setting a positive example for her daughters.
