About Rhys
I am a LMHC-eligible Expressive Arts Therapist with 6 years of experience, specializing in work with women, women-centered issues, teens, & children. I'm deeply passionate about supporting women, teens and children through all stages of life, particularly during periods of relationship challenges, personal growth, & major life transitions. I create a compassionate, creative, & supportive space that fosters vulnerability, reflection, healing, & self-discovery. I encourage women to reconnect with themselves, build self-esteem, and navigate emotional challenges with curiosity and empowerment.
I support clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships, self-worth, life transitions, & identity. As a Lesley University alumni, I incorporate motivational interviewing, humanistic, art therapy, bibliotherapy, & solution-focused approaches. I reframe traditional therapy through creativity, exploration, and meaningful self-expression.
Expressive Arts Therapy can be the answer to the disconnect many have when they think about therapy. I look forward to working with you and learning from you. Take a moment to take a deep breath and honor yourself for wanting to take this next step in bettering your mental health—you should be proud! Whenever you are ready, I hope to hear from you!

"I hope to create an expressive and creative space for all walks of life by learning from one another, building a relationship, and creating together in order to foster growth, expansion, reflection, and healing."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I chose this profession because I have always enjoyed helping others and I have seen first hand how the power of art can truly transform and uplift. The best feeling is being able to makes someones day and help someone leave your office better then they came in to it.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to the process, able to bring their genuine selves, and have a good sense of humor! I encourage all to bring their authentic self to every aspect of their life.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with just about anybody! I hope my clients will appreciate or learn to appreciate the healing power of the arts as much as I do. Expressive Arts can be so many things and I am excited to show a client that is open to it, all that it can encompass.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
My family and friends are everything to me. I value my time off and being able to spend it making memories with those I love. Life is too short not to!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is able to provide me with the training, supervision, resources, and work space that will help me to grow and become a better clinician.
What inspires you?
My family inspires me each and everyday. They have done nothing but be supportive and encourage all of my dreams and passions. My mom and dad both came from humble beginnings and knew what their passions were at very young ages. They let no one and nothing stop them from achieving their goals and they want their children to do the same, if not do even better. They constantly remind me of how far I've come and push me to keep reaching for what I want.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect for us to just get to know one another. I will have questions and I hope you have questions for me as well! We will be spending sometime together and I think the best way to build a therapeutic relationship is similar to how you build other relationships in life. Come as you are and lets vibe!
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to learn what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the experience, what you look for in a therapist, what your favorite art modality is, what you do when you aren't in therapy, what you do for self care, and who your biggest supports are!
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am new to Thriveworks and may be adjusting to how things work at first, so I ask for patience as I adapt to this new system. I also am someone who values communication so do not hesitate to reach out with any questions! Lasty, I value punctuality, I will always value your time and I hope that can work both ways.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy going out to eat, trying new things, going to new places, finding myself on random adventures, meeting new people, doing yoga, doing art, DIY home improvements, listening to music. watching reality tv, playing video games, playing board games, and spending time with friends. family, and fur-babies.
