About Raef

Raef Sengupta is a Resident Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 2 years of experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction, among other presentations. He provides counseling to individuals of all ages. As a psycho-dynamically trained therapist, Raef believes relationship building is the root of all lasting change. His goal in therapy is to provide a space where both the visible and hidden manifestations of these internal conflicts can be explored and learned from.

Raef received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He uses different approaches depending on individual needs and goals, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, motivational interviewing, and Humanistic techniques.

Inner clashes can prevent us from getting to where we want to be, and it takes courage to fight for our mental and emotional needs in a world that doesn't account for them. If you're ready to work toward a place of healing and peace, schedule an appointment with Raef today.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

For years I worked as a teacher. I designed lesson plan after lesson plan only to be met with students who were more interested in running around and impressing their friends than they were in my class materials. And why should they have been? It was then that I pursued a career learning about people and supporting their inner needs. What truly interests people? What fuels their motivations?

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Talking helps.

What inspires you?

Others. In connecting with others, I am shown and reminded of the countless ways there are to be.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

A space without judgement where we can together figure out how we would like to spend our time.
