About Molly

Molly Nevens is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has over 10 years of experience providing therapeutic treatment services. Molly has been working with individuals with a wide range of concerns including mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, life stressors, career challenges, and substance use issues. She has worked in various clinical settings such as outpatient counseling offices, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, partial hospital programs, hospital emergency rooms, community health centers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Molly completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and her Master of Social Work (MSW) (Clinical) at Boston University. In addition, Molly holds certificates in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) from Boston University; Integrated Care Management from UMASS Medical School; and Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration(SAMHSA).

Molly is a reliable, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative professional with a strong passion for helping others. She has a warm, respectful, and understanding approach with a goal of making therapy a comfortable and supportive environment. Molly’s former clients have experienced her to have a strong commitment to assisting them in feeling heard and identifying short-term/long-term goals, being an active participant in their success, and prioritizing a strong and supportive therapeutic alliance.

Molly utilizes an interactive approach, believing that treatment should be unique and specific to each individual, however the main treatment modalities she incorporates in treatment are CBT, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. Molly believes that it takes a great deal of courage to be open to change, increase self-awareness, and/or to work towards improving one’s happiness and satisfaction with life. She is here to be a support to you if/when you are ready to take this step. Molly encourages you to reach out to her with any questions you may have or to better determine if she would be a good fit for you as a therapist.

Get to know Molly

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I have always felt a passion and strong desire to get to know and help others. Life can be challenging and it is important that we all know that we are not alone and have support when needed. Counseling has been powerful and meaningful work for me.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks has a great mission and reputation with innovative and comprehensive services. It feels like a perfect fit for me both professionally and personally.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Discuss confidentiality, answer any questions/concerns regarding therapy, get to know the client and why they are seeking therapy. Most importantly learn their therapeutic goals and if they have had therapy in the past: what has worked for them or not worked for them.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Exercising, reading and spending time with family.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I am a very open, compassionate and understanding individual who prioritizes sessions being a comfortable and supportive environment.
