Get to know Meridith
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I had always found myself drawn to people's stories and intrigued by their behavior and self-expression, wanting to listen and learn more. I am also from a family of social workers who helped instill a sense of community and service.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I enjoy working with all types of people.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with any client who wants to begin therapy.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Issues in life come about that are unexpected, and you don't have to navigate them alone. Even your therapist has a therapist.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks due to its positive work environment and accessibility. Finding the right therapist that suits your needs is important.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect empathy and a non-judgmental environment. I believe in the client's autonomy, so what is discussed can be taken at a pace that is comfortable for them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Working on building rapport, understanding the primary concern, and what the client would like to achieve while working together. I want to meet the client where they are at.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy learning and am pursuing a doctoral degree in psychoanalysis, so I spend time off attending classes and studying. I also enjoy art museums and films.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Humor is my favorite form of personal expression.
What inspires you?
Creativity and curiosity inspire me. Asking questions and discovering new things.
