Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed working with people and wanted to help people find freedom and healing through therapy.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Adolescents and young adults.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That therapy is, unfortunately, not instant and it takes hard work and time to unlearn and relearn certain patterns.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I liked the freedom and independence of scheduling, billing, and getting to focus more on client care than all of the administrative tasks that counseling can bring.
What inspires you?
The resilience of people.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
They can expect someone who is fully attentive and ready to listen to whatever they want to share in their first session. They can also expect to be able to share about what brought them into therapy without any fear of judgement, but instead with full and total empathy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I like to use the first session to get to know the client and what brought them to therapy, to start to uncover their goals for therapy, and to begin building the therapeutic relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
That therapy is a two-sided relationship and they must feel it is a good fit just as much as I do. They should also know that if they don't feel a strong connection, then I will help to find the perfect fit for them.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with my husband and son, spend time with friends and read.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My family.
