About Lynn

Dr. Lynn Chosiad is a Licensed Psychologist who has more than 15 years of experience working with adults of widely varied backgrounds and identities seeking help addressing struggles with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, relationship issues, grief & loss, trauma, family, career, educational/learning issues, and women’s issues. In addition to these areas, Dr. Chosiad specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, and other weight and body image struggles.

Dr. Chosiad completed both her Master of Arts (MA) and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, and completed her post-doctoral training at the Cambridge Eating Disorder Center (CEDC).

Dr. Chosiad takes an eclectic approach to the therapy relationship, and strives to meet clients where they are, listen to their needs, and provide support as they explore their struggles at their own pace. She will work with clients to continually evaluate what would best help, using a client-centered approach that provides cognitive-behavioral or dialectical-behavioral techniques and strategies combined with explorations of clients’ life histories to make connections and pull together themes to achieve greater self-knowledge and understanding.

Dr. Chosiad believes in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, and the value of unconditional positive regard towards her clients. She looks forward to meeting you, and to working with you to achieve your therapeutic and life goals!

Get to know Lynn

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I've known since I knew I wanted to be a therapist, & had it confirmed during my pre-doctoral internship at a college counseling center, that my favorite practice is individual therapy with clients. Thriveworks has enabled me to focus on that exclusively, without having to worry about most of the administrative tasks that I'm not interested in.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

I'm not going to grill new clients with exhaustive questions about their whole lives to date. I want to know what concerns you most on the day you meet me - what brings you to therapy, what is the information you want me to have right away. I trust in the process that we will absolutely get to all the key details eventually. I will certainly ask plenty of questions, because I'm endlessly curious about people and their stories, but I know we won't get to everything in our first session, and that's ok. I also make an effort to help my clients find the hope - I want my clients to know that I want to work with them and that I believe we can work to make things better, together.
