Get to know Kevin
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor in order to help people overcome/cope with adversity, become the best version of themselves, and live happy and fulfilled lives (e.g. improving their relationships, stopping the cycle of generational trauma, reach their career/life aspirations).
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are self-motivated to engage in therapy. I feel in particular that I connect with adolescent and young adult clients who are working to figure out who they are outside of their family of origin.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with individuals who are motivated to engage in therapy, especially young adults who are learning to develop their own identity and sense of self outside of their family of origin.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice with Thriveworks because of the increased flexibility that I can have with my schedule.
What inspires you?
What inspires me is a desire to improve myself and to improve the community by being a guiding force for others.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a warm and supportive environment where we will go over the concerns about what brings them into therapy and where they will feel heard and validated.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would want to ascertain what brings a client into therapy, their basic background information (e.g. mental health diagnostic hx, family hx, supports/skills they have developed/used).
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that I am a kind, warm hearted individual who will ensure a quality and safe space for them to truly be themselves and work through whatever is going on.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to go to the gym and be active, as well as spend quality time going on adventures with my fiancee.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am driven to become the best that I can be at anything I set my mind to.
