About Julie
I am Julie Lerner, a Licensed Psychotherapist with over 10 years of clinical experience offering in-person weekly sessions to adults ages 25–65. I specialize in working with folks navigating gender identity, sexuality, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and providing an affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive therapeutic space. I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and intersectional identities with a wide range of lived experiences, diagnoses, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
My work is grounded in Humanistic and Existential Theories and integrates Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, and CBT. I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that is tailored to each person. Clients often describe my style as warm, grounded, and gently direct.
I aim to create a space where you can slow down, show up as you are, and feel supported in making sense of what feels difficult or unclear. Therapy with me is collaborative and steady, and I strive to meet you with care as we work through what brings you in. I would be honored to work with you if it feels like a good fit.

"As a Licensed Psychotherapist with 10+ years of clinical experience, I have been able to witness the impressive transformation folks are able to achieve through the therapeutic process and relationship."
Get to know Julie
What types of clients do you work best with?
Folks who are seeking deeper insight into their choices and lived experiences, as well as those wanting to create a more fulfilling and intentional life. I especially enjoy working with people who are ready to make meaningful changes and move toward the life they want to be living.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
An open conversation about what is bringing them to therapy, including current concerns and a brief overview of relevant history. We’ll also spend time getting to know each other and beginning to build a sense of comfort and connection in the space.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish more people knew that healing is not linear, and there is no “right” way to do therapy or move through the process. Growth often happens slowly, through small shifts in awareness, connection, and self-understanding rather than big, immediate changes. I also wish people knew the importance of having the audacity to hope—that even when things feel stuck, painful, or uncertain, meaningful change is still possible. Therapy is a space where you can safely explore your experiences at your own pace, without pressure to have it all figured out.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the importance of hope, safety, and authentic connection. I value creating a space where people feel seen, respected, and supported in being fully themselves. Having had the privilege of working with many folks over the years, I deeply respect the courage it takes to engage in therapy and do this kind of work.
I am especially committed to affirming LGBTQ+ identities and supporting people as they explore gender, sexuality, trauma, and identity in a nonjudgmental, culturally responsive space. At the core of my work is the belief that healing happens through relationship, and curiosity.
