Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I have always been curious about why people do the things that they do, and I've always had a desire to help people. Additionally, I had an amazing counselor when I was a teenager who helped me through a significant loss in our family, helped me realize the things that were most important to me, and gave me the tools to be able to navigate my struggles more effectively.
What types of clients do you work with best?
My passion is with working with adolescents, no matter what they're struggling with.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I think teenage girls are the most fascinating people to work with, with the most unique perspectives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that therapy isn't just for "crazy" people or people with "issues". Everyone needs some extra help sometimes and no one can get through life completely on their own.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose Thriveworks because of the seeming dedication to giving therapists what they need in order to just be therapists, and reach their own professional goals.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by those who have the courage to be both strong and vulnerable, those who aren't afraid to take a leap of faith, and by my cats who are just living their best lives at every moment and take all things as they are.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My clients can expect to feel heard, validated, and hopefully a sense of safety.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to identify their goals, greatest strengths, and areas for growth.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I'm a human person who doesn't always have all of the answers and also doesn't believe in telling people what to do with their lives. I am also dedicated to always learning more to be able to better support my clients.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy horseback riding, spending time with my foster kitties, reading, strong coffee, spending time with my friends, and eating delicious food.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a strong advocate for cat welfare.
