About Irene
Irene is a licensed mental health counselor with a combined 8 years of experience in mental health and related fields and 20 years of experience in working with public schools and family systems. She is interpersonally rooted in practice and has on strong focus on creating a successful therapeutic alliance. She believes that the quality of the client-therapist relationship should align with clients’ needs. Irene specializes in several areas that support children and adults who face challenges with school, behavior, family life, ADHD, ODD, self-esteem, bullying, abuse, anxiety, and depression.
Irene completed her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology degree at Bay Path University and was teacher-nominated as Class Speaker. She has provided counseling services for inner city children in crisis in residential settings as well as for adults.
Irene believes rapport is of utmost importance in the clinical setting and that a strong sense of trust helps build an alliance between the client and therapist. Irene has a sensitive view of client culture, respect, and confidentiality and places high standards on client safety and rights.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Irene decided to become a counselor because of her philanthropic views of promoting others' welfare through beneficence.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Irene has long term experience with working with children and families and has gained expertise in working with adults for three years. She emanates professional competence with clients she serves.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Irene is most excited to work with clients who face challenges with criteria for anxiety, depression, adhd, school issues, trauma, narcissism, borderline and esteem symptoms. Irene helps clients identify their needs and plans for their mental health and life goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
People have shifts of tolerance in life and their strengths can be explored to help identify their best image of self.

Rapport is of utmost importance during the first session and all consecutive sessions.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Irene enjoys reading, animals, relaxing and the outdoors.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I enjoy learning about an array of topics and have interests in learning about forensics. I enjoy and appreciate the company of animals and the outdoors during free time.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
A client who is diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactive disorder and disruptive mood received counseling to diminish symptoms of aggressive behavior and inattention. Using cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior approaches, the client began to change his mindset which led to changed behavior. These methods coupled with a referral for psychiatry helped the client become more receptive to communication and expressive with language.
