Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor after working with a group of third graders during a volunteer year with City Year after graduating from undergrad.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That it is ok to switch therapists if you do not feel your therapist is the right fit for you.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The ability to utilize remote outpatient therapy.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients will expect to have a conversation around what brought them to therapy, to complete an intake form asking about family, friends, past therapeutic experiences, education/work and their strengths and needs. As well as having the time to ask me any questions that they may have and to work to build a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to get an idea of what is bringing them to therapy and to discuss one goal or task that they can work to complete before the next session.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
In our first few sessions I want to develop a treatment plan with goals and clear objectives and continue to build rapport and learn more about the individual I am working with.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Watch netflix, gardening, skiing, hiking, play with my dog, visit with friends and family and bake.
