About Donna
Donna Duggan is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in Massachusetts with 14 years of professional work experience. Donna is experienced in helping clients with stress and anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, and parenting issues. Donna began her journey in mental health working with victims of sexual trauma and domestic abuse, guiding them on their journey from victim to survivor with empathy and compassion. Donna also has many years of experience working with adolescents. Donna is skilled at fostering a trusting space for clients to be honest without feeling judged. Donna earned her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling.
Donna has experienced struggles in life and knows the importance of making sacrifices. Working in a migrant town, she has had to opportunity to experience a culture that is hard-working and committed to working for a new life. Donna's approach is person-centered and solution-focused. Her practices include mindfulness, self-care, and strength-building skills.
Donna believes in being mindful and non-judgmental of others. Donna will assist clients in identifying strengths and needs, as well as goal setting. Donna has shown the ability to establish trust and rapport in the earlier stages of treatment. Establishing absolute trust is the cornerstone of Donna's practices.

Get to know Donna
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
When residing in Florida, Donna was feeling disturbed with many stories of children being victims of predators. Donna developed a desire to engage in becoming part of the solution. Having a need to make a difference is a foundation that drives Donna on a daily basis.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Donna works best with women and children.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Women who have experienced trauma.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Donna views the opportunity to be part of the mental health community as calling and a privilege.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I feel that it is time to take my career as an LMHC to the "next level" where I will have the opportunity to work with more diversity and will be able to earn better wages to assist with planning for my future.
What inspires you?
People, stories such as "Homeless to Harvard", women who have rose "through the ashes."
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients may expect to feel a safe place where they are comfortable enough to begin their journey.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would like for the first session to be a chance for a client to feel comfortable with me as clinic
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I would like for clients to know that I have vast experience and success with empowering clients.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I spend time with my family, take nature walks, cleaning and organizing, spend time with my cat, socialize with colleagues, attend gatherings, and go to see a movie.
