About Anthony
Tony Tucci is a Licensed Clinical Sport Psychologist with 11 years of experience in the field. He currently provides therapy, mental skills coaching, and performance coaching. Tony is passionate about helping individuals develop more effective habits to help them reach their goals in life. He has extensive experience in a variety of settings with a variety of populations. Tony specializes in work with anxiety, panic, phobias, depression, and trauma/stressor disorders.
Tony completed his Master of Counseling Psychology degree at Assumption College before starting a dual-degree program at John F. Kennedy University. There, Tony completed his second degree, which was a Master of Sport Psychology degree. After this, Tony completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Throughout schooling, Tony interned at many different sites including residential treatment centers for adults and children with developmental disabilities, juvenile detention centers, outpatient therapy clinics, and inpatient sites. Tony utilizes a BioPsychoSocial Model and takes an integrative approach to therapy by using many aspects of different theories to meet the person where they currently stand in their mental health work.
Many individuals are impacted by life stressors through no fault of their own. These experiences can cause one to develop ineffective habits to stay safe, feel comfortable, or feel in control in the short term, only to learn later in life that these safety habits have led to long-term struggles. Tony's goal is to help individuals identify life goals and develop more effective habits to help them achieve these goals. If you are ready to begin developing more effective habits so you can achieve your goals, then please reach out to meet with Tony today.

"As a clinical sport psychologist, I value taking into account the role of biology and sociology in mental health and wellness."
Get to know Anthony
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
A lifelong mentor is a clinical psychologist, and through many discussions about psychology, I became fascinated with the idea of becoming one myself.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with individuals of all ages and backgrounds feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and stress.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Clients interested in learning about the physiological processes of anxiety and stress, as well as those interested in building their skills to manage these processes tend to be the best fit for my work.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Everyone would benefit from knowing that their experiences with stress and anxiety are common, despite how troubling they can be. It is also important for people to know that they have the ability to take control of these processes.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks provided the opportunity to hone my focus on working with people struggling with anxiety and stress. It also provided the opportunity to utilize Neurofeedback, which plays a significant role in my work.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired every time a person I am working with tells me that they were thinking about something learned in session throughout the week. It is inspirational to see people taking the skills learned in session and utilizing them on their own.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session will involve a briefing of my work so the person can provide informed consent. Next, the focus shifts to evaluating the goodness-of-fit between myself and the individual based on the presenting concerns. Then, treatment goals are formed and either awareness-raising or skill-building begins.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
A first session will be judged as a success if the person decides that I am a good fit for them and we are able to create treatment goals for our work.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Individuals can expect me to focus solely on understanding their unique experiences without judgment.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Hobbies of mine include playing and coaching recreational sports like soccer, golf, football, and more. I also enjoy writing fiction, playing and writing songs on bass guitar, cooking, and studying subjects like physics and biology.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am proud to say that I have a strong ability to empathize. Being able to put myself in someone else's shoes and understand how their experiences are unique to them strengthens my work because it keeps me from providing a blanket approach and helps me meet every individual where they currently are in their struggles with mental health.
