Get to know Hope
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Hope became a counselor out of a deep desire to truly listen and walk alongside others in their stories. From a young age, she found herself naturally drawn to offering support--- whether sitting with friends through hard moments or helping family members feel seen and heard. Her passion for meaningful connection led her to a field of therapy, where she now helps clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Ages 18+, anxiety, depression, engagement seasons, relational issues, finding values and connection.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am ready to walk alongside clients as they explore their strengths and values--- whether you are fully ready to dive into counseling or still feeling a bit unsure, there's space for you.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Counseling can be difficult, but it's often in the discomfort that we uncover the truest and strongest parts of ourselves. Healing requires us to sit with what's uncomfortable so we can move through it and grow.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
From the first interview on, I could sense a warmness from staff and a common interest to provide the most effective and empathetic care to patients, immediately wanting to be apart of this. Additionally was drawn to a flexible schedule, allowing my clients multiple times in the evenings and weekends.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the power of listening and encouragement--- how simply being present can create space for deep healing. Watching people move through trauma and rediscover hope, strength, and joy is one of the most meaningful parts of this work. I am also deeply shaped by my friends and family, whose ability to lead with love and care for others continues to guide and ground me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In your first session with me, know that you are in control. Counseling isn't a race--- it's a space for safety, and that sense of safety can take time to build. We'll move at your own pace. I'll ask some background questions to better understand your story, but there's no pressure to share more than you are ready for. This is your space, and we'll work together to build a connection rooted in trust and respect.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
To build a sense of safety and rapport building among client and therapist.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before your first session, know that you don't need to have it all figured out--- just come as you are. Feel free to bring any questions you may have. I am flexible in my approach because every person needs something different. If at any point it feels like we're not a good fit, that is absolutely okay--- I'll gladly connect you with someone who might be a better match. You comfort and care come first.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of counseling, I enjoy long walks with my husband and friends, relaxing at local coffee shops, volunteering at church, and spending time with our playful one-year-old golden retriever, who always keeps things fun and joyful.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
What defines me isn't my productivity at work--- I am defined by my identity as a daughter of Christ. My faith gives me a deep hope that one day there will be no more pain or suffering. I value strong, honest relationships, finding joy in the small moments, and always trying to live with a spirit of gratitude.
