About Melissa

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 23 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and groups across diverse mental health settings. I began my career in 2002 as a case manager at a community mental health center, where I discovered my passion for helping people heal through connection and understanding. Since then, I’ve worked in community mental health, geriatric primary care, private practice, and long-term care, helping clients ages 18 to 100 navigate complex challenges including trauma, addiction, comorbidities, and terminal illness.
I earned a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University. My holistic approach combines evidence-based therapy with mindfulness and intuitive healing practices. I focus on helping clients process trauma, manage stressors, and strengthen their emotional resilience by tapping into their inner strengths and developing greater self-awareness.
If you’re ready to break free from the pain that has held you back, I would be honored to support you in your healing journey. Together, we can create a safe space for you to heal, grow, and reconnect with the best version of yourself.

"As someone who has experienced grief and loss, as well as the struggles of being a working mother, I understand the difficulty of trying to navigate life's challenges while trying to juggle personal and professional responsibilities."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Ever since I was a child, I always had a desire to help others feel better. I knew that when I grew up, I wanted to help bring out the best in everyone I met. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Psychotherapist, I have the opportunity to help my clients work towards healing their mental, emotional, and physical pain so they can live their life to the fullest.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are motivated and ready to work towards making positive changes in their life. I help them improve the quality of their lives, and I help them make lasting changes that will lead them to achieve their personal and professional goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish that every client knew that therapy is about guiding each person on healing themselves by using their inner strength to help them overcome life’s obstacles.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
My clients can expect to explore in depth the areas of their lives where they are struggling and determine their therapeutic goals. They can also expect to explore how they learn best in order for me to cater my therapeutic approach to help them progress towards achieving their treatment goals.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Throughout my life I struggled with self-esteem and endured many losses. Through using the same therapeutic approaches that I teach my clients, I was able to heal from these losses and learn to love myself again. I value treating each client with kindness, dignity, respect, and acceptance.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client by learning what their strengths are, finding out how they learn best, and exploring their goals for treatment.
