Why did you decide to become a counselor?
My love of human services began in my introductory psychology class while learning about the human brain. Human behavior and brain development guide my work to this day. My journey has taken me in a variety of settings from home-based treatment, school-based interventions, community and private practice, as well as medical facilities. As cliché as this may sound, I truly believe this is what I meant to be doing; helping others provides me the greatest life satisfaction.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Whether you're well-versed in therapy or this is your first time seeking mental health services, I look forward to the opportunity to work with you. I do my best to challenge my clients in a supportive manner. My ideal client is open to changing unhelpful thoughts and adopting new and healthy ways of thinking.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with a wide variety of ages, genders, and mental health goals. I have spent a good portion of my work focused on depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and couples counseling.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
Taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is a clinician lead company that provides client centered care with a focus on treating the whole person. They strive to build a team of experienced counselors.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my client's ability to grow and improve their general wellbeing.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
It takes great vulnerability to open up to a stranger during your first appointment. Please take comfort in knowing my strict adherence to confidentiality. Professionalism is of the utmost importance to me. I hope to get a snapshot of who you are and what brought you to treatment. Then we will work to deepen the therapeutic relationship by further exploring your life experiences.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to gain a snapshot of who you are, what brought you to therapy, and how I can best assist you in accomplishing your goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Communication is key, as they say. My communication style is direct and assertive. Through active listening and reflections, I ensure you feel understood.
