About Marissa
Marissa Hatcher is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in mental health. She specializes in treating adults and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, and trauma. Marissa has worked in a variety of settings including both inpatient and outpatient care. Throughout her experience, Marissa has found her role in supporting her clients as they work through what led them to seek therapy. She aids individuals in understanding the underlying causes of issues while building effective coping strategies to deal with stress and other difficult emotions.
Marissa has her Master's in Social Work from Aurora University and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She is well-versed in dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy and provides person-centered treatment that is solution- and goals-focused.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
When I was young, a social worker entered my life and gave me the tools I needed to succeed. It inspired me to want to be that change for others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have worked with a wide variety of clients, and I appreciate when clients show up as their authentic self.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are enthusiastic about doing the work.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
The most powerful thing you can do is to ask for help.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I have seen first hand the challenge clients face in accessing mental health services, and felt that this was the perfect place to address that.

I am inspired by people who show up even on their hardest day.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?
During my time off, I spend time with family, friends, and my dog.
