I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have met my counselor Brittany Lafin through your practice. She was very attentive in our first meeting where I explained what I was seeking out of counseling, and I immediately felt very confident that she would be able to help me get to where I want to be, and was comfortable with her. Throughout the year or so that I've been in counseling with her, I have grown so much. The people around me notice the positive changes in my life, and she helped me gain perspective and be goal oriented without being too overwhelmed by change. She helped me find the confidence and strength to leave a toxic relationship, refocus on myself and find out what my goals truly are, and be able to start making my dreams reality. Throughout my life, I've had many counselors and therapists, but I've never found one that I've connected with as well as Brittany. She is realistic and firm, while being empathetic and validating. She has been very flexible with scheduling and I cannot say enough good things about her. Thank you!

Get to know Brittany

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

When I was 12/13 a lot of friends and family struggled with mental health, from addictions, abuse, toxic upbringing, school bullying and performance. Seemed like all the adults only minimized everyone or scapegoated. The school counselors were too busy and the teachers wanted less “problems”. I wanted to help.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Those who want to learn the skills to promote their overall wellness.

What inspires you?

Change. Goals. Empathy. Creativity.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Getting to know one another, building trust. First session is the most structured.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

Why they are beginning therapy, initial goals and realistic treatment plan.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I use therapeutic tools, resources, community groups, readings, best practice material, social media, podcast.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Ride horses, go to baseball games, travel.
