About Jessica
I am a licensed independent social worker (LISW) with over 31 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I work with individuals, couples, teens, young adults, and adults age 65 and older navigating anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma histories, grief and loss, life transitions, relational challenges, and work-life balance concerns.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and practical. I integrate eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies to support emotional regulation, reduce distress, and strengthen insight.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready for change, you do not have to navigate it alone. I believe healing happens through connection, patience, and compassion. When you are ready, I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you as you take the next step toward balance, healing, and meaningful change.

"I believe it is a privilege to walk alongside individuals in their healing journey by creating a space where they feel seen and heard, honoring every part of their story, and supporting them in using their strengths to take one intentional step at a time toward meaningful change and new ways of living."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I understand firsthand how difficult it can feel to begin therapy—especially when hope feels small and familiar coping patterns keep you stuck. Through my own healing journey, I learned that change is possible and that we don’t have to remain where we are. That understanding fuels my passion for helping others take meaningful steps forward, one decision at a time, in a supportive and collaborative space.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work well with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm, and I have extensive experience supporting first responders with critical incidents, burnout, and compassion fatigue, working with clients ages 10 and older.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish people knew about therapy is that it’s a process, not a quick fix. It’s common to want relief in just a few sessions, but meaningful change often involves some discomfort and trying things differently. You are always in control of your decision to attend, pause, or continue—therapy moves at your pace.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, I take time to introduce myself and review what to expect with telehealth, confidentiality, and privacy so clients feel informed and comfortable. We’ll go over any necessary policies and address questions before focusing on what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain. Early sessions are about beginning your story, building trust, and starting the journey together at a pace that feels supportive and collaborative.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the belief that change is possible, even when it feels hard to imagine. Personal and professional experiences have taught me that healing takes time, honesty, and compassion. These values guide me in creating a supportive space where clients can build emotional regulation, gain clarity, and move forward with greater confidence and hope.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I approach therapy as a collaborative partnership, meeting clients where they are and focusing on what matters most to them. Together, we set clear, attainable goals and adjust along the way. Therapy is flexible, individualized, and designed to support growth at a pace that feels hopeful and achievable.
